The Arbour Birth Center is a home-like facility located in Calgary, Alberta specifically designed & equipped as a safe and comfortable place for women & their families to give birth when attended by their registered midwife.


The birth center provides a space for care that is mother- and family-centred, where pregnancy and birth are considered normal processes- not illnesses.  With 3 suites Arbour Birth Center is equipped for over 30 births a month.

Within the Birth Center there are three birthing suites, a kitchen for the preparation of provided snacks or light meals you may bring with you, and a comfortable living room area for waiting family and friends and toys to entertain the little ones. The birthing rooms are each furnished as master suites with ensuite bathrooms that feature large tubs for use during labour and birth. The equipment needed for a normal labour and birth are stored in the suite closets.  

The family chooses from the available suites when they arrive at the birth center in labour. Details under the heading ROOMS.

 Donations

Arbour Birth Center operates on a cost recovery basis. This means that we charge what it costs to provide the space, equipment, medications, supplies, cleaning, laundry and people who do the work. We acknowledge that the fee is beyond what some families are able to pay to make use of this alternative place to have a private, peaceful birth in a place fully equipped for normal, low-risk labour and birth.

So we found a partner to create fair and equitable access to Arbour Birth Center.

Mamas for Mamas is a charitable organization providing goods, services, support, workshops, councelling to families in Calgary. Donations may be made to Mamas for Mamas to provide assistance to families for whom Arbour Birth Centre is the best option for their birth but for whom the cost is too much.
